Shapes cut from cloth and stitched down by hand, so the edge is real and the motif sits slightly above the fabric — something no print can do.
Every Narimade piece begins as plain cotton or linen and is finished by hand — crochet motifs worked stitch by stitch, folk paintings applied panel by panel, block prints pressed and embroidered over. Nothing is machine-embellished, and no two pieces come out exactly alike.
Each piece carries the name of the woman who made it, on the label and on this website. Her success is our strength.
